Arthur Reed 1960

For over 55 years Arthur Reed Photos has been perfecting the art of photo day! Arthur had always been a keen photographer and joined the camera club at school whilst taking pictures of school sporting events, surfing pictures and creating postcards for the local newsagency. He would come home and process these images in black and white in his darkroom set up in the laundry of their family home.

The business continued to grow, innovate and develop and is believed to have produced the first commercially taken colour photograph produced in Geelong for the Shell Oil Co. After importing new printing technology from Germany and moving to our first purpose built laboratory in 1965, Arthur Reed Photos continued to service the school market whilst growing in the photo finishing and processing sector. The business moved once again in the early 80’s into a building that, to this day, remains the production facility for all Arthur Reed Photos work.

“our business remains one of our family traditions”

Arthur Reed Photos is now a third generation family owned and operated company with Arthur remaining active in the business until his passing in 2013. Michael and Alison Reed continue to develop and advance the business ensuring that we remain true to Arthur’s values of ‘providing value for money packages at affordable prices for families.
